It's official: Eurocopter, as Kamov, was eliminated from the competition ATAK. South Korea: green light for Eurocopter on the KHP

June 5, 2006, the Presidents of KAI and Eurocopter signed an agreement for development and production involving 245 military transport helicopter, thus giving the official kickoff to the industrial component of the KHP. The development budget is 1300 billion won, which is 1.4 billion of $; the KHP will provide the Korea South of a transport helicopter, designed and produced in the country by 2011. The cost of ownership for the KHP is included between 6 and 8 billion of $, divided between the development of the apparatus (15), production (45) and maintenance (40); the localization ratio imposed by the Koreans is 65.5 for components and 58.2 for integration. Eurocopter will produce 15 to 20 of the components of the new aircraft, about 60 will be provided on-site by local companies and the 20 remaining by other foreign companies including Thales.

The next deadlines are laid down in 2008 for the presentation of two prototypes, then February 2010 vol. KAI and Eurocopter testing have created a JV to market the device and rely on the sale of 250 to 300 machines to clients other than the army Korean from 2014. The aircraft will be integrated into the range of Eurocopter to be sold on the domestic market. It is said that this contract is a resounding for Eurocopter as an illustration of the configuration of new defence procurement success: local production, export to third countries in common.
